Bawana is a census town in North West district in the state of Delhi, India.

Originally a Jat village(Gotra- Sehrawat) in North West of Delhi, India.It's a constituency in Delhi vidhan sabha.Since 1993 when Delhi vidhan sabha was re-constituted Bawana constituency has been reserved for SC and since then represented by Chandram(BJP-93) and Surinder kumar(cong-98,03 & 08).[1] Bawana is home to Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Industrial Park, which is one of the best planned industrial areas of India. A 1000 MW natural gas power plant is also in the making.[2] Rajiv Gandhi Stadium has been made in the village keeping in mind the need of sportpersons from rural Delhi.[3] A 20 MGD water treatment plant has also been set up considering the water woes of rural delhi. Bawana also has an Air force Station and a CRPF Base Camp.[4]
The SOS children's village was presented with the award of best orphanage in Delhi. It is one of the few places where Delhi Public Library is still running and is being reinnovated and the construction of the new building will start soon. The tehsil of Bawana is one 0f the 20 historical sites which have been renovated to showcase during the 2010 Commonwealth Games of delhi[5].
Bawana is located at .[6] It has an average elevation of 213 metres (698 feet). The villages touching bawana are nangal thakran, bajit pur, dariya pur, majra dabas, pooth khurd, holabmi khurd, kheda khurd,holambi kalan, sultanpur dabas and ghogha[7]. The area of the village under farming used to be 52000 bigha but now most of it has been acquired by delhi government for industrial area. Bawana has khadar soil and is a very fertile area with very high water table because of the western yamuna canal and the high density of ponds[8]. The climate of bawana is also extreme with very high temperatures in summers and almost zero level temperature during winters[9].
As of 2001[update] India census,[10] Bawana had a population of 23,095. Males constitute 56% of the population and females 44%. Bawana has an average literacy rate of 72%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 61% of the males and 39% of females literate. 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
