Bavil (French: Baville) is a village outside the metropolitan of Tabriz, Iran, in the East Azerbaijan Province. The village itself is officially divided into a north and a south part named Olya and Sofla, respectively. It was named after a French settler.
Since the village is a part of Tabriz, the predominant language is mainly Azerbaijani, a Turkic language, although all inhabitants of the city can speak and understand Persian as well.
