John Basil Charles Dickinson (born 25 April 1915)[1] is an Australian athlete who competed at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. He was born in Queanbeyan.
In 1936 Basil Dickinson (as he prefers to be called) finished 16th in the Olympic triple jump event.
At the 1938 Empire Games he won the bronze medal in the long jump competition as well as in the triple jump contest.
Dickinson was an official at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne.[1]
As of 29 May 2011, on the death of Bill Roycroft, Dickinson is Australia's oldest surviving Olympian,[2] and is the last survivor of those Australians who competed in the 1936 Olympics.
