Banyuasin Regency is a regency of South Sumatra, Indonesia. It has an area of 11,822.99 km² and a population of 654,286 as of 2000. The capital lies at Pangkalan Balai. Much of the regency is coastal lowland.[1]

The name for this regency came from Javanese language terms banyu (water) and asin (salty),[2] referring to its coastal geography.
