"Banned in the U.S.A." is the title of a song recorded by American hip hop group 2 Live Crew. It was released in July 1990 as the lead single from their album of the same name. It peaked at number 20 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and is their highest charting song on that chart. It reached number-one on the U.S. Billboard Hot Rap Tracks chart.[1]
The song is a reference to the decision in a court case that their album As Nasty As They Wanna Be was obscene (the decision would later be overturned on appeal.) Bruce Springsteen granted them permission to sample his song "Born in the U.S.A." for it.
