Baniyani

'Baniyani' (Nepali: बनियानी) is a village development committee in Jhapa District in the Mechi Zone of south-eastern Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 5043 people living in 985 individual households. Baniyani Bazzar (बनियानी बजार) is located middle of Baniyani V.D.C. and Sunday and Friday people gathering here for buying and selling purposes in Baniyani HAT from the near villages even from India. Laxmi Higher Secondary School, Baniyani Health-Post, Area Post-Office, Area Armed-Force Camp are served to people surrounded area of Baniyani. Some Boarding Schools also have been established during the last decade to provide the quality education around the villages. Prithvinagar (पृथ्वीनगर) V.D.C. is located in north of Baniyani. In the west Balubadi V.D.C. is situated. Kechana (केचना) and Patharia V.D.C. are in the south and Pathamari V.D.C. is in the east. Mechi River is flows as the border of Nepal and India. Many ethnics live in the region, such as: Rai, Newar, Tamang, Limbu, Meche, Koche, Rajbanshi, Gangain, Muslim, Gaine.

Bhramin, and Kshetri are the large volume of caste in communities. Newari, Tamang, Limbu, Rai, Rajbanshi, Maithili, Nepali languages are mainly spoken languages. Dashain, Tihar, Tij, and Janai-Purnima are the mostly celebrated festivals here. Siruwa, Idul-Fittar, Bakar-Ide, Chhat are the other festivals of minorities. In the region, Muslim, Rajbanshi, Satar (Urau) and Gangain are scattered in many villages. ^[1]
