Balkonda is a village and a Mandal in Nizamabad district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India.[1]

Balkonda is located at .[2]Balkonda is also known as Allakonda with 36 villages. Mendora, Kissannagar, Pochampad, Kothapally, Mupkal,Bussapur,Elkatur, Renjarlla, Vannel-B are the major villages in the mandal.Very ancient ShivaLingam is there in RajarajeshvaraSwami temple in Kothapally village and big Uthsav(jathara) conducted for every Maha Shivaratri festival and this village is also famous for 'Kabaddi' game in district.Sriram Sagar Project reservoir was established by our first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru on Godavari river at Pochampad with 42 gates and height of 1091 feet water level.Identities of Nizam army camps are found on hills in Balkonda. It is an assembly consistency with combination of Velpur,Morthad,Kammarpally mandals.Main water sources for cultivation in this mandal are Kakatiya and Lakshmi canals, bore wells, agricultural wells and lakes. Formers mainly cultivate rice, turmeric (pasupu), corne (mokka jonna), pearl millet(sajja),ground nut. Armur and Nirmal are the nearest towns to Balkonda.Present Balkonda MLA Anil Eeravathri he was elected in recent 2009 general elections from Prajarajyam party
