Balichak (Bengali: বালিচক) is a census town in Paschim Medinipur district in the state of West Bengal, India.

Geography

Balichak is located at .[1] It has an average elevation of 12 metres (42 feet). It is located in the Debra community development block in the Kharagpur subdivision of the Paschim Medinipur district.[2] The Debra police station serve this town.[2] Balichak is the headquarters of the Debra CD Block.[3]

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[4] Balichak had a population of 12,206. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Balichak has an average literacy rate of 71%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 55% of the males and 45% of females literate. 11% of the population is under 6 years of age. there are two higher secondary schools in balichak. one boys' school and the other is girls' school
