Avondale is a neighborhood in south-central Columbus, Georgia located adjacent to and southeast of the Central Business District in Downtown. It has been a part of the federally recognized Columbus Historic Riverfront Industrial District since 1978. In recent years, the area has experienced an influx of residents and new businesses. The area near the intersection of 4th Street and Veterans Parkway is home to a growing number of restaurants, and loft residences. The area also offers pristine local shopping. The area is mostly a mix of residents, and arenas. (Columbus Civic Center, A. J. McClung Memorial Stadium and Golden Park.) In 2007, the estimated population of the area was 3,262.[2]
