Avinash Sachdev

Avinash Sachdev is an Indian television actor best known for the role of Dev on the Hindi soap operas Chotti Bahu and Choti Bahu 2.[1]

Background

Sachdev, the only child of Hindu parents, was intended at first for a police career.[2][3] But as he prepared for the Indian Administrative Service exams, he began modeling and competing successfully in beauty contests for men. His first notable acting role was in a TVS Scooty commercial with movie actress Preity Zinta.[4]

In 2008 Sachdev secured his first TV role in the soap opera Khwaish.[3] Chotti Bahu was his fourth TV role.[4] Near the end of the serial's first season, Sachdev's character, Dev, was thrown from a cliff to his death, but the popular character was revived for a second season with a new plot.[5]

In December 2010 Sachdev became engaged to his Chotti Bahu co-star Rubina Dilaik. The couple denied rumors that they had already been secretly married in 2010.[6] The pair have been greeted as celebrities not only in India but in Malaysia and South Africa.[2][7]
