The Avaya Communication Server 2100 or CS-2100 (former name Succession softswitch) [1] in computer networking, telecomunications and IP telephony is a carrier grade, IP soft switch or VoIP server solution for large campus and geographically dispersed large enterprises. The CS-2100 has built-in redundancy in all core components and functions as a pure IP telephony solution or as a hybrid solution with both Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) and IP endpoints. The CS-2100 has a centralized management and administration interface, to allow core and remote system OA&M to reduced operating costs. The Communication Server 2100 can scale from 8000 to 200,000 ports; 100,000 simultaneous calls and 2.4 Million Busy Hour Call Completions (BHCC).[2] The system is an Innovative Communications Alliance (ICA) compliant product.

The CS-2100 Unified Communications capabilities including web collaboration, presence-enabled call handling, directory services, instant messaging, and audio/video conferencing.

The operating system of the CS 2100 is Carrier Grade Linux.
