Austin grew up in Bloomington, IN the United States, but moved to the Czech Republic in 2003. In 2008, Austin relocated back to the United States. Contrary to some uninformed sources, Austin was never a Czech citizen.[1] He is the son of Bob Lucas who is a producer/songwriter best known for his work with Alison Krauss. Austin spent six years as a member of the Indiana University Children's Choir.[2]
Austin was bassist/backing vocals in the band Twenty Third Chapter from 1997–1999, lead vocalist in Rune from 1998-2000. He was also involved with the band K10 Prospect as lead singer/guitarist from 2000-2004. He now plays lead guitar in Prague-based Guided Cradle, 2004-current. Austin has worked in conjunction with fellow Indie artist Chuck Ragan. The two first collaborated in 2007 when they released a split and later on the Bristle Ridge LP in 2008.[3] His current album was recorded with the help of his father and sister Chloe Manor in his family home located in Ohio. Austin took part of the Revival Tour and played with Chuck Ragan, Ben Nichols and Tim Barry.[4]
