Buyout

On August 10, 2006, Atom Entertainment was bought by MTV Networks with all its properties, including AtomFilms, Addicting Games, Addicting Clips (renamed AtomUploads) and Shockwave.com.[1] The buyout occurred shortly after negotiations against and subsequently with Google to purchase YouTube.

Relaunch

In late June 2008, AtomFilms re-launched as Atom.com and switched its focus to comedy. As a result, many of the indie films were removed. The re-launch also aligned Atom with Comedy Central, including a new series, Atom TV, that airs Monday nights on the network.[2]
