Astron-6 is a Canadian film production company founded in 2007 by Adam Brooks and Jeremy Gillespie. It quickly grew to include Matt Kennedy, Conor Sweeney and Steven Kostanski. Currently the five filmmakers are equal partners. The company produces low-budget, 80's-centric, genre-bending, independent movies that play on the expectations of the seasoned filmgoer and often combine horror with comedy.
The five filmmakers met at The Winnipeg Short Film Massacre where they competed for years before joining forces and forming Astron-6. In 2008 they released their first DVD entitled "Astron-6: Year One" which was distributed in Canada and online.
Currently, Astron-6 has completed work on a feature film version of Father's Day being produced by Troma Entertainment and debuting October 21st (2011) at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival, alongside a screening of their only other feature, Manborg.
Their second DVD compilation, tentatively titled "Astron-6 Sells Out", is also underway.
