The Assoun are a Jat tribe and they are considered gotra in Punjab state of North India, while they are considered a tribe in Sindh and Punjab provinces of Pakistan.
The Assoun is a clan of the Bhattis . In Pakistani Punjab, they are mainly found in Gujranwala Division especially in Tehsil Nowshera Virkan. Some villages of Assoun's are also found in Rojhan Tehsil of Rajanpur District along the bank of Indus River.

Assoun live in many parts of Punjab region from ancient times especially in Rajanpur District. In real they are named after a place according to Jat clan system. They are named after a village Assowan Bhattian in Sheikhupura District. Originally they are also Jats Bhattis. When they migrated to the other parts of the South Asia they are called upon as Assoun's.Nowadays main concentration of this clan lies in Nokhar, Thabal ,Qila Deewan Singh(Villages of Gujranwala).Some villages of Assoun's are also located in Hafizabad District namely Thatha Kalian ,Dera Assowan etc .This clan of Jats is very famous for its valour and bravery.Mainly they are agriculturists but some also do Government jobs.
They are Muslims in Pakistan while Sikhs in India.
This Punjabi tribe speaks Punjabi and many also speak Urdu and English.
