History

Asia Spa & Wellness Festival was first organised in Kuala Lumpur in 2006. In its inaugural year, it attracted some 20,000 visitors, comprising both public and trade visitors. Supported and endorsed by Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism and was an official event as part of the Visit Malaysia Year 2007,[1]

Components

Trade Exhibition

The trade exhibition comprises two key sections: 1) spa and wellness equipment, products, and services, and 2) spas, wellness centres, medical centres and hotels and resorts.

This dual exhibit grouping allow the exhibition to attract travel and tour professionals specialising in spa and wellness travel as well as spa and wellness professionals sourcing for new products and services.

Educational Summit

The educational summit is typically two-days, with between 15 to 20 speakers. The educational summit at Asia Spa & Wellness Festival attracts between 150 to 250 attendees, and focuses on business issues, trends and technology.

Networking opportunities are strategically weaved into the programme, allowing maximum interactions among speakers, delegates and exhibitors.

Gold Awards

The ASWF Gold Awards are the industry gold standard for excellence. Judged by an independent judging panel that is kept secret until the Awards Night, the Gold Awards are given only to the truly deserving spas, wellness centres and industry supporters.

Business Matching

A key component of the Festival is the business matching session, which brings exhibitors and hosted buyers together. Typically held on the first day of the Festival, the BMS allow business and contracts to be negotiated directly, before the floors are opened to other trade visitors and the general public.
