Asambhav
Asambhav is a Bollywood action thriller directed by Rajiv Rai, the film released on 23 July 2004, starring Arjun Rampal, Priyanka Chopra, Naseeruddin Shah and Dipannita Sharma, in pivotal roles.[1] The film was shot entirely in Switzerland.[2]
Plot
Captain Aditya Arya, (Arjun Rampal), is in the Indian army. When the Indian president is kidnapped, Adit is sent undercover to rescue the president and his daughter, Kinjal (Dipannita Sharma). Aditya becomes a journalist for IndiaTimes, and manages to make his way to Switzerland with the help of a police officer called Bhatnagar. On the flight, Aditya meets Alisha (Priyanka Chopra). Alisha is a singer, and has come to Switzerland under a contract in order to do a show with, Sam Hans (Naseeruddin Shah). Her friend Shilpa accompanies her. However the people who Alisha and Shilpa have come to Switzerland with, are drug smugglers. Shilpa is murdered when she finds this out, and Alisha pretends she knows nothing. She meets up with Aditya, and together they help each other. In the end, Aditya saves the president and Alisha is able to go back to India with Aditya.
Cast
- Arjun Rampal as Captain Aditya Arya, an Indian Commando. The objective of Captain Arya's is to save the president from the Al-Amaz terrorist group led by Youssan Baksh. Aditya trained to be singer originally, which is how he met Alisha.
- Priyanka Chopra as Alisha, a struggling singer from India.
- Naseeruddin Shah as Sameer 'Sam' Hans, a rich drug dealer. Sam is originally from Delhi, but he resides from Switzerland.
- Mohan Agashe as President, a man with wisdom. He is supposed to be relaxing in Switzerland, but is kidnapped by Mabroz. He is freed from Mabroz, but then kidnapped by Sam Hans, who sells the President to Youssan, before finally being saved by Aditya Arya.
- Dipannita Sharma as Kinjal, the bright daughter of the President. Kinjal studies at a university in the USA.
- Milind Gunaji as Pakistan's ISI Agent, General Ansari. Ansari is a powerful man with contacts and he, arranged an attempt on Sam Hans's life, and he has contacts within Al Jazeera. He is a clever man, and keeps a cool head for most of the time. He is shot and killed by Aditya.
- Tej Sapru as Hashmi, an ISI agent. Hashmi is one of the two henchmen of General Ansari. He is killed as he attempts to apprehend Bhatnager.
- Chetan Hansraj as Gazi, an ISI agent. Gazi is one of the two henchmen of General Ansari. He kills Alisha's friend Shilpa, and lures Aditya into a trap created by Ansari. He is killed by Arya.
- Sharat Saxena as Salim Zulfi, the Indian ambassador. A seemingly proud Indian at first, until turning out to be a traitor. He may have poisoned Embassy worker Parmar, although it's unconfirmed who did it. He kills Sam Hans's friend Brian, and is killed by Hans in return.
- Tora Khasgir as Ms. Brar, an associate to the Indian Ambassador Salim Zulfi. Ms. Brar reveals to be a traitor, working for Mabroz and is actually working alongside Zulfi for the huge fee paid by the ISI. She is accidentally killed by Volga, after a miscommunication.
- Mukesh Rishi as Youssan Baksh, leader of the Al Amaz insurgency. Baksh is a clever man, as he discovers an Indian spy within his group, but as well as smarts, he has strength. He is killed by Captain Aditya Arya in the final scenes of Asambhav.
- Shawar Ali as Rafiq Mabroz, an international terrorist whose purpose is similar to a mercenary. Whilst Youssan and Ansari are patriots, Mabroz cares only for the money. He is responsible for the death of Embassy worker Parmar.
- Tom Alter as Brian, the influence of Sam Hans. Brian is the only Christian in the film. Brian is responsible for involving Alisha in the drugs smuggling. He is killed by Salim Zulfi, after being held at ransom for Sam Hans' money.
- Arif Zakaria as Dabral, an associate of Brian's. He discovers Alisha and is one of the few people who actually know who Aditya is, and what relationship he has to Alisha. Dabral is killed by Zorba.
- Chitrita Sharma as Shilpa, Priyanka's Friend (Murdered by Gazi)
- Anupama Verma as Volga, lady in Mabroz's Gang
- Shabhir as Zorba, man in Mabroz's gang
