Ardmair (Scottish Gaelic: Àird Mhèar) is a village in Highland, Scotland. A fishing village, Ardmair Point is located 3 miles (4.8 km) north of Ullapool along the A835 road.[1] During the summer months and national holidays it is a holiday resort, containing a caravan site and holiday homes. During the holidays, visitors can hire a boat from the beach at Ardmair, including canoe boats.[2] The peak of Ben Mor Coigach is commonly climbed by people staying in Ardmair.[3]
Ardmair lies on the shores of Loch Kanaird. On the right hand side of Ardamair Bay is the Isle of Martin, about a kilometre from Ardmair Point at its nearest point. This island was owned by the RSPB until 1999, but on May 3, 1999 the local community formed a charitable trust and agreed to assume responsibility for the island.[4] A passenger ferry running from Ardamir to the Isle of Martin operates on Ardmair on Saturdays and Wednesday evenings. The River Kanaird flows into Loch Kanaird to the north of Ardmair Point; it rises in the hills to the north-east of Ullapool.
