Arambakkam

Arambakkam (Tamil: ஆரம்பாக்கம்) is a Village located in Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu . It is the First Village of Tamil Nadu when coming from the northern Border of Andhra Pradesh. Fishing is the main occoupation here, within a short distance lies Bheemavarai Palyam where a creek locally called Uppankali juts out from the Pulicat-Arambakkam lagoon. It has a railway station.

It is at a distance of 55 km north of Chennai on NH 5, Chennai - Kolkata highway. The Village is at a distance of 2 km from the Tamil Nadu - Andhra Pradesh border.

Arambakkam Railway Station is at a distance of 1 km from the Village and is located on the Chennai - Vijayawada line. Passenger trains and EMUs stop at this station. Buses towards Tirupathi via Srikalahasti, Nellore, Vijayawada and Vizag pass through Arambakkam. Arambakkam station is the last station located on the northern most tip of Tamil Nadu.
