Aporia crataegi, the Black-veined White, is a large butterfly of the Pieridae family.
It is found in orchards and bushes throughout most of Europe except Northern Europe, North Africa, temperate Asia, Korea and Japan.[1]
It usually feeds on plants in the genus Prunus. Flight time is between April and July, size is 56–68 millimetres (2.2–2.7 in), and is normally found an altitudes of 500–2,000 metres (1,600–6,600 ft).[2] Caterpillars live communally on uncut branches of the foodplant at first, before dispersing in the later developmental stages to other parts of the tree.
