Angela Conner

Angela Conner FRBS (b. 1935) is a British Sculptor living and working in London. She has exhibited in many countries and has large scale sculptures in public and private collections around the world. Conner in her early life as a sculptor assisted Barbara Hepworth.[1]

Her kinetic sculptures are concerned with utilizing "natural elements like water, sun, gravity or wind to create mobiles that entice viewers to stop and watch their gentle movement".[2] Conner's 129 ft water and wind sculpture 'Wave'[3] at Park West Dublin is possibly the tallest water and wind sculpture in Europe.

Conner also creates portraits and has bronze busts located in the grounds of Chatsworth House including portraits of Lucian Freud, The Eleventh Duke of Devonshire, Harold Macmillan, Roy Strong and John Betjeman. Conner has also created a bronze bust of Elizabeth II to celebrate her 80th birthday.[4]

Conner has a great love of horses and in particular Morgan horses.[5]

Response is currently at Ragley Hall as part of the Jerwood Foundation sculpture collection.

While there are many, notable public sculptures created by Conner include 'Yalta Victim Memorial'[6] at The V&A and a bronze of Laurence Olivier outside the Royal National Theatre on the Southbank in London.
