Andotra

The Andotra are Rajput clan found in the at state of Jammu and Kashmir in India.[1]

They were the Landlords or the Zamindars. They owned the lands and also farmed upon them. Andotras are spread over Jammu and Kashmir but are mainly prominent in Kathua.

History

Jodh Singh of the Andotra clan is believed to have migrated from Hastinapur to Kathua nearly 2,000 years ago.

His three sons established the three Hamlets of Taraf Tajwal, Taraf Manjali and Taraf Bhajwal. Their descendent are now called as Tajwalia, Bhajwalia and Khanwalia Rajputs of ANDOTRA sub-caste.

In earlier times, the Andotras were looked upon with dignity among the Rajput clan. The Rajputs believed themselves to be of the royal blood and considered it against their stature to be doing a meager thing such as farming.

Today they yield a place of significance in the society. Many members of this clan have risen to great heights. Many have gone on to become big business leaders and politicians. The andotras had now came out as the real kings. They were ,they are and will ever be the same.
