Amguri is a town and a Municipal area committee in the Sibsagar district in the state of Assam, India.It is famous for tea, oil field. It is a small town of sivasagar district. there is a higher secondary(AHDHS School), a girs high school and a college(Amguri College) in this town.

Amguri is located at .[1] It has an average elevation of 74 metres (242 feet). It is a beautiful town situated on the bank of the river Jhanji. Amguri is famous for its surrounding tea gardens and oil field.
As of 2001[update] India census,[2] Amguri had a population of 6944. Males constitute 56% of the population and females 44%. Amguri has an average literacy rate of 75%, higher than the national average of 59.5%, with 55% of the males and 45% of females literate. 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Amguri is part of Jorhat (Lok Sabha constituency).[3]
