The American Bank Note Company Building is a historical granite structure located at 70 Broad Street, New York, New York (at the corner of Beaver Street, near Bowling Green in Financial District, Manhattan).
It was built in 1908 as the home of the American Bank Note Company, a leading engraving company which produced bank notes, currency and stock certificates. They sold the building in 1988.[2][3]
It was remodeled in 1996 and became a restaurant. It was purchased for USD$5.5m in 2004 by the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi for a Global Financial Capital of New York, part of the Global Country of World Peace (GCWP).[4]
The GCWP later placed the building on the market in 2009 with an asking price of $45 million, later reduced to $25.5 million.[5] It was sold to an unnamed Chinese construction and investment company for $18 million in 2010.[5]
