Ambalantota is a coastal town in southern Sri Lanka. It's located in Southern Province in Hambantota District between Matara and Hambantota.
The Walave River meets sea at near place to Ambalantota.
The Ambalantota town is famous for its anicent ruins as Kingdom of Ruhuna.After his many conquests abroad King Gajaba returned to the country from Port of Godawaya that is situated a within sight from Ambalantota.

Ambalantota was played an important role in past Sri Lanka as the major city of the Kingdom of Ruhuna. That was called as 'Manaulu Pura'. The great king Vijayaba, The great warrior Therapuththabhaya, Divisional king Mahanagha are made Ambalantota more glow and Ridiyagama was the commercial hub in those days.
