Alot has a population of 40,948.[1]
Alot is home to the Shipwara temple and Dharola Mahadev temple.[2]The temple of Shiva is more than 5,000 years old. It is said that Hanuman took rest here while picking Sanjivani Booti, leaving a footprint still visible. Every year on Kartik Purnima Alot holds a mela for a livestock market. There is a popular place for Jainism that is Nageshwar Unhel, about 8 Km from the main market. There are other temples "Ramsingh Darbarg", "Lakshminarayan Mandir (near Er. Sumit's home)", "Hanuman mandir" (near Bajrang Kirana stores) and Khedapati Hanuman Mandir. In Alot there is a very large grounds for Cricket, the Bajrang Club, and a popular garden, 'Ambedkar bhavan'. Alot has many religions. Hindus, Muslims and Bohras all live in this small town. It is one of the oldest settlements of Madhya Pradesh and was under the jurisdiction of Dewas before freedom.
