Hubley is married to Wendy Barber. The couple have had three children.
On October 14, 2011, Hubley's 15-year-old son Jamie committed suicide. Jamie, who was gay, was struggling with depression in the face of anti-gay bullying at his high school. The bullying had begun as early as Grade 7, with students on Jamie's bus attempting to stuff batteries in his mouth because he preferred figure skating over hockey.[2]
In the final month of his life, Jamie Hubley had kept a blog (now offline) in which he detailed his feelings of suicidality.[3] Unlike many other victims of gay teen suicide, Jamie is known world-wide because of a series of cover song videos that he had published to his YouTube channel while battling depression.
