Alkarama has its main office in Geneva, Switzerland, but also has branches in London, Beirut, Doha and Sana'a,[1] and human rights activists across the Arab world.[1]
Although founded in 2004 as a society, since 2007 Alkarama has been a registered Swiss foundation.[1]
Alkarama is a trilingual organisation, publishing material in Arabic, English and French.[2]
Alkarama focuses on the following human rights violations: extrajudicial killings, enforced disappreances, torture, arbitrary detention and unfair trials.[1]
Alkarama records and reports on human rights violations in the Arab world, in particular through the United Nations mechanisms.[1]
Among the United Nations bodies to which Alkarama reports are: the Human Rights Committee, the Committee against Torture and the Universal Periodic Review.[3]
Alkarama also produces its own reports, including newsletters, country reports and an annual report.[1]
