Alfarje

Alfarje (meaning paneled ceiling) is a type of horizontal wooden ceiling and intertwined in many cases and further styled and painted found in Spanish Moorish architecture. The ceiling structure is made through a series of beams called girders.[1]

The alfarje roof was used primarily in Muslim and Moorish architecture in Spain. Notable buildings using the alfarje include Alcazar Palace, the Mosque of Cordoba, the Alhambra Palace in Granada or the Church of San Millán (Segovia) and Aljafería Palace of Zaragoza.
