Alboraya[1] (Spanish: [alβoˈɾaʝa]) or Alboraia (Valencian: [aɫβoˈɾaja]) is a town and municipality of the province of Valencia, Spain. It is situated very close to the city of Valencia.

Originally a farming community, Alboraia has grown in the last decades following the development of the metropolitan area of Valencia. The elections of May 2007 gave the PP an absolute majority with 11 seats. Other seats were represented by the PSOE (7), BLOC-EV (1) and Ciudadanos por Alboraya (Citizens for Alboraya) (2).

Traditional crops are based on irrigated, intensive farming. Especially important are the tiger nuts (Spanish: Chufas; Valencian: Xufes), which are used to produce the world famous horchata, a popular refreshment. The town is actually full of orxateries – bars to relax and chill out while having an horchata in the hot Valencian summers.
