Al-'Asifah

Al-`Asifah (Arabic: العاصفة‎, al-‘āṣifah, the Storm) was the mainstream armed wing of the Palestinian political party and militant group Fatah.

It was established in 1964 to protect the political wing of Fatah from reprisals. Its first attempted raid occurred on March 31, 1964, but was hindered because the fighters were detained by the Lebanese Armed Forces. Its first member to be killed was Ahmad Musa, who was shot by a Jordanian army patrol. Al-`Asifah was jointly led by Yasser Arafat and Khalil al-Wazir.[1]
