Ajmer -Hyderabad Express is long awaited Super fast train by the People of Hyderabad especially by Muslims for Ziyarat to Garib Nawaz Mosque Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti Sharif dargah in Ajmer in Rajasthan. The train also important to Hindu pilgrims to visit Pushkar Brahma Temple in Ajmer.
The long awaited train was gifted to Hyderabad by Mamata Banerjee in her Railway Budget -2009-2010AD. The Prestigious train,however was expected to be a daily, but is being organized Bi Weekly due to maintainable reasons.

The train is however, unofficially known as Minaxi Express, generally Referered by SCR as Hyderabad -Ajmer Express or Simply Ajmeer Express. The train is very often referred to as Nagarjuna Express only due to sharing of number of previously running Tenali-Secunderabad Nagarjuna Express. Tenali-Secunderabad Nagarjuna express is terminated in the middle of 2007.
Shri K. Rosaiah, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh will flag off four new Trains on 27 September 2010 at Kacheguda Railway Station at 10.00 a.m. Shri K.H.Muniyappa, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways will preside over the function.
On their inaugural run on 27 September 2010, the four trains will run as per the following timings.
Hyderabad-Ajmer Inaugural Special (Train No.2720A) will depart Hyderabad at 10.30 hrs. and arrive Ajmer at 19.00 hrs. the next day.
Regular Timings of the newly introduced trains (from 28 September 2010)
1. Train No. 2720/2719 Hyderabad-Ajmer-Hyderabad Bi-weekly Superfast Express
Train No. 2720 Hyderabad-Ajmer Bi-weekly Superfast Express will depart Hyderabad every Monday and Wednesday at 20.30 hrs., arrive/depart Secunderabad at 20.50/20.55 hrs., and arrive Ajmer at 03.25 hrs., the second day (Wednesday and Friday). In the return direction, Train No.2719 Ajmer-Hyderabad Bi-Weekly Superfast Express will depart Ajmer every Wednesday and Friday at 17.25 hrs., arrive/depart Secunderabad at 00.05/00.10 hrs the second day (Friday and Sunday) and arrive Hyderabad at 00.30 hrs.
Enroute, the Train will stop at Nizamabad, Mudkhed, Nanded, Purna, Hingoli, Washim, Akola, Khandwa, Itarsi, Bhopal, Ratlam, Mandsor, Nimach and Bhilwara in both the directions. Two Experimental stops have been allotted with one at Chittorgarh and another at Ujjain recently.
The train will comprise of One AC 2 Tier, Two AC 3 Tier, Seven Sleeper Class, Six General Second Class, two Second Class Luggage cum Brake Van coaches totaling to eighteen.
Nizam Guaranteed Railways inaugurated this train as a Meter Gauge Link on Hyderabad-Godawari Valley Railways and -Malwa-Rajputhana Railways as a Daily passenger train to Ajmer via, Nizamabad, Nanded, Purna, Akola, Khandwa, Indore MG, Ratlam, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Chittorgarh. The train is known as Minaxi Express or Minaxi Passenger by the people.
It was named Minaxi possibly because
1). The Mahur Ekvira or Ekaveera Aayee, of Nanded District, who is the most adorable goddess of Maharashtrian People and people living around Nizamabad and Adilabad Districts, is also known Minaxi aayee.
2). Mahakali goddess of Ujjain, who is also adored as Minakshi or Minakshi. Though the train does not go to Ujjain however, it stops at Fatehabad-Chandrawati Ganj Junction in, Madhya Pradesh, and is about 30 km each from Indore and Ujjain.
The Train was terminated due to gauge conversion in the mid of 1985 to 2009. On completion of Akola--Khandwa -Indore section, the train is expected to re route via its original path and the train will be operated on daily basis.
Recent discussion with various old people of Medak District reveals that The Ujjayini Mahankali temple is a replica of Ujjain Mahakali temple of Ujjain Madhya Pradesh. In some puranas Mahakali is often referred to as Meenakshi. At the time the train was initially inaugurated as Meter gauge Express between Kacheguda and Jaipur Rajasthani people referred this Train as Minakshi Express.
The Historical Jaipur Kacheguda Express is also expected to be renovated by the people of Hyderabad.
