Aichi University (愛知大学 Aichi Daigaku) is a private university in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Its campuses are at Toyohashi, Higashi-ku, Nagoya and Miyoshi, Aichi.
The school was founded in 1901, and it was chartered as an university in 1946. Its predecessor was The East Asian University of Literature, a Japanese university overseas, founded in the Hong Qiao (虹桥) District in Shanghai during the Qing Dynasty. At the end of World War II, China closed that school and the present school in Japan was founded by a number of the students and staff of the school that had just been closed in China. The school provided numerous leaders in the process of modern day China's modernisation in the early 20th century with financial and intellectual support from Japan.[1]
