Ahraura is a city and a municipal board in Mirzapur district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Aharaura has many famous places from the point of view holyness as there is a temple situated in rocky mountain and there is stone letter which is by Emperor Ashok.

As of 2001 India census,[2] Ahraura had a population of 23,142. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Ahraura has an average literacy rate of 52%, lower than the national average of 59.5%; with 63% of the males and 37% of females literate. 18% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Notable locations and people

Aharaura has many famous holy places: There is a temple situated in rocky mountain and there is stone letter which is by Emperor Ashok. The previous landlord of Ahraura is Shree Sadayatan Pandey, alias Badey Sarkar. He was an M.L.C. and M.P. of the Mirzapur Constituency. He is also a Member of the Central Railway Board of India. Previously most of the land of Ahraura belonged to him; after that he has distributed many lands to poor people. His successor is Dr. Veena Pandey who is and ex M.L.C. and Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party. She is now one of the most famous women Politicians in India.
