Agailjhara Upazila

Agailjhara (Bengali: আগৈলঝারা) is an Upazila of Barisal District in the Division of Barisal, Bangladesh.

Geography

Agailjhara is located at . It has 30560 units of house hold and total area 161.82 km².

Demographics

As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Agailjhara has a population of 147343. Males constitute are 50.93% of the population, and females 49.07%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 76524. Agailjhara has an average literacy rate of 42.4% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate.^[1]

Administrative

==Agailjhara== has 5 Unions/Wards, 84 Mauzas/Mahallas, and 95 villages. There has a police station. One of the oldest School of Agailjhara is B H P Academy. It was established in 1919.
