Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan, it is a manufacturer of industrial PC, embedded single board computers, and automation controllers & software. Their industrial PC products include Rackmount computers (used for industrial control, ISPs, machine vision, telephony, plant automation, data acquisition applications, and networking purpose) and wall mount computers (which are designed for installation in machineries or for mounting on walls). Their embedded single board computers include the 3.5 Embedded Board and the 5.25 Embedded Board. Their automation controllers & software include IO Modules and Softlogic Software. They also provide a large variety of products that range from Human Machine Interface (HMI), Vehicle PC Solutions, Chassis, Ethernet Networking, PICMG Backplanes, Programmable Automation Controllers (PACs), and software.
Advantech Co., Ltd distributes its products to overseas markets in Asia, Europe and the Americas, and the domestic market. Mr. K.C. Liu founded the Advantech Co., Ltd Company in 1983.[1] Liu was born in 1954. He graduated from the National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan with a degree in Communication Engineering. K.C. worked as a Sales Engineer in the Instrument Department of Hewlett Packard (HP) Taiwan and as an R&D engineer. Since Advantech was established, K.C. has been dedicated to leading the strategies in sales and marketing for the company. Currently, Liu has been guiding Advantech, strategically, as it diversifies into the ePlatform Services business.[3]
Advantech Co., Ltd was founded by 3 former Hewlett-Packard Engineers in 1983. The company started with the System Integration Business of IEEE-488 ATS (also known as Automatic Test System). Advantech's first exported product was the PCL 748 IEEE-488 Card. Advantech also successfully launched the PC-Lab Card Series Industrial I/O Cards. The company was given the 3rd Innovative Product Award by the Taipei Instrument Exhibition in 1989. Their Global Branch Office in San Jose, California was opened in 1987.[4]

Advantech's PPC-140T Multi-function Panel PC also received the "Singapore Comex Asia Best Hardware System Award" and the "Excellent Choice for Kiosk Solutions in the United States of America" award from the CRN magazine in the USA. Their IPC-6908 was selected as the "Product of the Year" by the CTI magazine in the USA. The company's PPC-102T Panel Computer received the 6th Gold National Award of Excellence in Taiwan. In 1998, Advantech was ranked in the top 4 "Most Investment-Worthy Corporations" and in the top 6 for the "Best-performed Corporations" by Commonwealth magazine in Taiwan. Advantech Co., Ltd was awarded the Most Representative Outstanding Company by the Industrial Development Bureau by the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Taiwan.
In 1999, Advantech Co., Ltd went IPO on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. Its ADAM Series received the 1st Outstanding Safety Instrument Award of Taiwan. Advantech was named the Symbol of Excellence Winner for their CPC-2245 Mini Biscuit PC and their PPC-A100T-R50 Panel PC for Building Automation in Taiwan.

In 2001, Advantech accomplished the "Technology Development Program for the Industrial Sector" by the Department of Industrial Technology, MOEA. The company's PPC-153 T Panel Computer and the ES-510 Public Web Payphone received the Silver National Award of Excellence in Taiwan. In 2003, Advantech had the Grand Opening of their China Kunshan Manufacturing Center.
In 2004, Advantech received the "Taiwan Top 10 Global Brands" award from the Bureau of Foreign Trade and the Editor's Choice Award from Control Engineering Magazine. The company's FPM-3170 17 Flat Panel Monitor received the 2004 Editor's Choice Award under the Human Machine Interface category from Control Engineering magazine. Their TPC-60S Touch Panel PC, UNO-3026 Front Access Fanless PC, and AWS-8100G, Industrial Workstation were given the Symbol of Excellence Winner awards.
In 2005, Advantech formed a strategic alliance with AsusTek called Advansus. The company's TREK-755 Sunlight Readable Model was nominated for the Gold Award by the Embedded Control Europe (ECE) magazine readers. Advantech also received the Readers' Choice Award for the second best Industrial Computer from Design Control magazine in the USA and the Outstanding Innovation Award at the 13th annual Award for Industrial Technology Advancement in Taiwan.
In 2006, Advantech received the "Corporate Social Responsibility Award from the Global Views magazine in Taiwan and the Readers' Choice Award for Single Board Computer from Control Designer magazine in the USA. During this year, the company won the Intel Associate Partner of the Year & Intel Multi-Core Solution Contest in Taiwan. Their ARK-4170 was granted the Innovation Product Award by GongKong Web Media in China. Their ED-6528 won the "Best Product Award" from Control Engineering magazine in China while their EKI-6538 received the Editor's Chioce award from Electronics News in Australia. In 2007, Advantech had established the European Headquarters in Munich, Germany. Their ARK-3381 had received the Best Choice from Computex in Taipei, TW. In 2008, Advantech achieved the Intel Embedded and Communications Alliance Premier Member Status. Advantech's VITA-350 Automated Vehicle, UbiQ-350 A/V Mobile Controller, UNO-2182 Embedded Automation Computer, TPC-30T/TPC-32T Touch Panel Computers, and IPPC-7157A/IPPC-7158B Industrial Panel PC all won the 16th Taiwan Excellence Award.
