adiPURE is a range of football boots developed by the German sportswear manufacturer Adidas. Adidas based the design on the Adidas World Cup boots for the 1978 World Cup. They updated the design with modern materials and construction that create a relatively lighter boot.
Each adiPURE was initially released in a Black/White colourway, accompanied by a White colourway; and eventually other colourways. The adiPURE has also been released with other lower-end models in the aim of covering every budget, the major difference is the use of a full-grain leather upper instead of kangaroo leather.
For the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Adidas released the adiPURE in a black/sun colourway, as well as its other two boots, Predator and adiZero, in honour of the tournament's host nation.

Each generation of adiPURE has been released with a black/white colourway, to increase the heritage background of the boot, and also a white colourway as a modern variant, with other colourways being released later.
The original adiPURE was available on launch in traditional black/white and white/black colourways, which were followed by blue/white and silver/black colourways. The boot featured many design features that the World Cup 1978 boots had, including the three lines of stitching on either side of the toe of the big boot, and the short tongue.
The adiPURE was accompanied by two other boots, adiCORE and Telstar II; the boots are visually strikingly very alike, with small very tiny little differences but perform at the next level of perfection. Performance-wise, they are made with full-grain leather for the upper. The low-end model, Telstar II, is named after the low-end model of the previous adidas 7406 boot, which was named Telstar.
The adiPURE II was released in White/Black, and Black/White colourways, with the Blackout, Black/Metallic Gold, White/Cardinal, Brown/White colourways being released later. Notable design differences from the original adiPure include the omission of the three stripes on the instep of the boot, and the addition of a contrasting collar; also, an asymmetric lacing system was used.
The second generation of adiPURE was accompanied by another set of lower-end models, with the usual minor cosmetic differences and the use of a full-grain upper. The Telstar name was replaced with adiNOVA.
The adiPURE III was again released in Black/White colourway[1], but this time accompanied by a White/Blue colourway on release. Later, other colourways were released, including, White/Gold, Gold/Black, Black/Sun, Blue Beauty/White, White/Black/Poppy, Black/Warning and White/Warning. Notable design differences from the second adiPURE include the return of the three stripes on the instep of the boot, although notably shorter compared to the original adiPURE with wider stripes being used, also, it featured an adiPRENE insert in the sole.
Other variations of the adiPure III are the adiCore, and adiNova; both essentially the same as the adiPure. The adiCORE III features a full grain leather upper, unlike the adiPURE III which features a k-leather upper, there are other minor variations.
Announced the 1st of December 2010 the adiPure IV followed the trend of adidas' 2010 range of football boots by reducing it's weight over previous incarnations notably.
As well as being the lightest adiPure at the time of release, the adiPure IV was also the first adiPure boot since the adiPure I to feature a central lacing system and separate tongue to the rest of the upper.
adidas also tweaked the design of the adiPure IV, moving the classic adidas three-stripes further towards the toe-end of the boots, while also going back to centered lacing[2], giving them a look more reminiscent of the classic adidas boots of the 50's, like those worn by the German national football team in the 1954 World Cup.
The adiPure IV launched at retail on the 1 January 2011, with two launch colourways; Black/White/Poppy a& White/Black/Fresh Splash. The release of the adiPure IV also marked an increase in price for the range, with both the FG & SG models pushed up to £120[3]. A Light Scarlet/White/Black release was also made available in early February.[4]
In March 2011 adidas revealed that they would be releasing a limited edition version of the adiPure IV, called the adiPure SL[5].
Standing for 'Super Light' the adiPure SL combined a lightened version of the full K-Leather upper of the adiPure IV with the 'Sprint Frame' soleplate of the popular adiZero.
The result was a version of the adiPure that weighed 200g in a US Size 9 - a first for the series.
The adiPure SL launched at retail for £175, sold as a limited edition from the 1 April 2011 in a single colourway; Black/Running White/Metallic Gold. Each pair shipped in a limited edition presentation case, with leather cremé, dust covers and an adiPure SL branded heel tag[6].
The next generation of adiPure boots are due for a February 2012 release and will be known as the 11pro[7]. The adiPure will have an updated look from their classic style and will include an engineered ultra thin 360° support saddle, for more stability in the mid-foot. The K-Leather upper will be replaced with Taurus leather in the 11pro and they'll be miCoach compatible.
