Overview

A.V.M. higher Secondary School is one of the oldest and largest schools located in Manbhawan, Lalitpur, Nepal with over 5,000 students. Established in 2022B.S. by a pioneer of education in Nepal, the late Mr. Satya Narayan Bahadur Shrestha, this school is one of the top-leading schools in Nepal, offering quality education and skill based knowledge. It has bagged the National awards and Regional awards several times for its excellent result in SLC examination. In other words, AVM is a synonym for academic excellence.

History

The history of AVM is inextricably linked with the history of Late Mr. Satya Narayan Bahadur Shrestha, a true, selfless, democratic educationalist who contributed whole life in the field of education. He began the school with 120 students, including 70 day scholars and 50 boarders, at a rented building known as Bhairab Bhavan, now converted into the Himalaya Hotel at Kupondol. AVM now has six modern buildings, two playgrounds, and two basketball courts. The school offers education from grade 1 to School Leaving Certificate level which is equivalent to O levels offered by University of Cambridge. Besides, A.V.M. has been conducting 10+2 program since 2058B.S., in Science and Management subjects. The program is run in a building purchased for the purpose (the ancient building in which former autocratic Rana rulers used to keep their goats and horses). The compound includes a playground for the students and a beautiful garden.

The school has accommodation for its students in a well managed hostel, close to the school building. This offers students residing outside the KTM valley with an opportunity to study peacefully and comfortably. The hostel is under regular supervision of the Principal, and is looked after by hostel wardens and matrons. Every effort is made to ensure that the boarders are comfortable, neat and clean and happy. Also Study classes and tutorials are held in the mornings and evenings. The time table ensures that all students get ample opportunity to take part in co-curricular and extra curricular activities.
