Etymology

The name Acidicaldus derives from:
New Latin noun acidum (from Latin adjective acidus, sour), an acid; Latin adjective caldus, warm, hot; New Latin masculine gender noun Acidicaldus, a (moderately) thermophilic acid-requiring microorganism.[1]

Species

The genus contains single species,[1] namely A. organivorans ( corrig. Johnson et al. 2006, (Type species of the genus).; New Latin noun organum, organic compound; Latin participle adjective vorans, devouring; New Latin participle adjective organivorans, devouring organic compounds.)[2]
