Achenheim is a commune in the Bas-Rhin department in Alsace in north-eastern France.
The oldest human remains in Alsace, dating from the Paleolithic era, were found at Achenheim. The village was burnt down by the people of Strasbourg in 1262, during a war with Bishop Walter von Geroldseck. [1]
