Zinc FM (callsign: 4MMK) is a radio station in Mackay, Queensland, Australia. It was purchased by Prime Media Group Limited in 2005 from Macquarie Regional RadioWorks.

1931: 12 January – Zinc FM begins broadcasting as 4MK for the first time original studio was located in Family home of JH Williams [Senior] in Nelson Street Mackay . Broadcasting was conducted 2 hours per night

Approx 1950: – 4MK moves to new studios at School Of Arts Building in Gordon Street [Building no longer exists]

1971: April – 4MK moves to current location in Sydney Street Mackay [Next to former Mater Hospital, now Sydney Street Markets Shopping Centre]

1977: – 4MK switches AM frequences from 1380AM to 1030AM

1981: 1 November: – 4MK begins broadcasting 24 hours per day

1990s: – 4MK is part of North Queensland Radio Network: Other Stations included 4CA Cairns, 4AM Mareeba, 4TO Townsville, 4GC Charters Towers, 4LM Mount Isa, 4HI Emerald, 4CC Gladstone, 4ZR Roma

1995: – 4MK begins broadcasting Cowboys Call Team Matches on relay from 4TO Townsville [4MKFM no longer broadcasts matches, 98.7 Sea FM now broadcasts these matches from 4TOFM on relay]

Former sistersStation 100.3 Hot FM begins broadcasting in 4MK building in Sydney Street

1999: June – 4MK finishes broadcasting on 1026AM and begins broadcasting on 101.9FM, 1026 Easy Listening Mackay begins broadcasting on former 4MK freequency. 1026 Easy Listening Mackay was broadcasting from a building next door to the 4MK [later demolished - Now Sydney Street Markets]. Hot FM later moves in with 98.7 SEAFM [Whitsunday Broadcasters] in Victoria Street, Easy 1026 relocates to 4MKFM Building

2004: – the station received A$27,790 funding under the Australian government's Commercial Radio Blackspots Program.[1]

2009: March – 4MKFM is renamed Zinc FM, Zinc FM begins broadcasting on the former 4MKFM frequency 101.9FM. Easy 1026 is renamed 4MK AM. 4MKAM begins broadcasting on the former Easy 1026 frequency 1026AM
