3d Air Support Operations Squadron

The United States Air Force's 3d Air Support Operations Squadron (3 ASOS) is a combat support unit located at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. The 3 ASOS provides Tactical Command and Control of air power assets to the Joint Forces Air Component Commander and Joint Forces Land Component Commander for combat operations.

Mission

The 3 ASOS trains, equips, and maintains mission-ready Air Liaison, Terminal Attack Control, and Weather Observation/Forecasting elements to support the commanders of United States Army Alaska (USARAK), the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, with three subordinate Infantry Battalions and one Cavalry Squadron, and Task Force 49 Theater Aviation Battalion, deployed or in garrison at Fort Wainwright Army Installation, Alaska.^[2]
