History

Formerly known as 3UZ, it is Melbourne's oldest commercial radio station, commencing in March 1925. In 1986 the Victorian thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing codes purchased the station and racing was re-introduced in 1988. [2]

It become known as "Radio Sport 927" in the 1990's. The station also gained a number of retransmitters in country Victoria, and later Tasmania and the ACT. Despite using different radio frequencies, they all used this name on air.

In January 2011, the network was renamed "Radio Sport National," with the vestigal Tasmanian and ACT stations names disapearing.

Current

The station is rebroadcast by a network of stations throughout regional Victoria, Tasmania and Canberra. As well as the main transmitters listed here, there are also a number of low-power narrowcast relays in Victoria, and TOTE Sport Radio owned relays in Tasmania.
