The 31st Reconnaissance Squadron is an inactive United States Air Force unit. Its last was assigned to the 303d Bombardment Group, stationed at Gowen Field, Idaho. It was inactivated on 16 March 1942.

History

The squadron was formed in early 1942 as a B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bomb squadron. Equipped and began training under Second Air Force. Was inactivated with personnel and equipment redesignated as 38th Reconnaissance Squadron, after 38th was broken up with original aircraft reassigned after the Pearl Harbor Attack.
