2CUZ FM is an Indigenous community radio station in the North-Western NSW town of Bourke. It has been on air since 1996. The station broadcasts to the regional towns of Brewarrina, Walgett,and Lightning Ridge. The idea for the development of 2CUZ came from Greg McKellar and other powerful Aboriginal leaders who could see that their community needed more positive portrayals of Aboriginal people. In 1999 Muda Aboriginal Corporation commenced broadcasting and received its full radio licence in 2004.The station now has a full licence and broadcasts 24 hours a day.
2CUZ FM starts the day with their local Brekky show, Breakfast on the River, from 6am – 9am. From 9am-1pm listeners can tune in to Morning Music Mix, including ‘Let’s Talk’ from 98.9 FM, with Fiona Smith for a music-based program, mixed with local issues, interviews and a community bulletin board. 1pm to 4pm is Music Café with Derryan Grimes. 4pm to 6pm is our Chill Out programme and 6pm to 9pm includes an hour of 60’s 70’s and 80’s music. Then enjoy Late Night Music from 9pm to 6am.
2CUZ prides itself in maintaining a community feel, as well as keeping the Indigenous and wider community up to date with current issues and local information.
