The 2011–12 FC Anzhi Makhachkala season is the 2nd successive season that the club will play in the Russian Premier League, the highest tier of football in Russia.

Midway through the campaign, on the 18th of January 2011, the club was taken over by billionaire Suleyman Kerimov. This sparked a series of high-profile signings, including world-renowned international footballers such as Roberto Carlos, Mbark Boussoufa, Samuel Eto'o, Yuri Zhirkov and Diego Tardelli. This has significantly increased the recognition of the club across European football. On 27 December 2011, it was announced that Yuri Krasnozhan would take over as manager of Anzhi from Andrei Gordeyev and Roberto Carlos who had been in the caretaker manager since Gadzhi Gadzhiev was fired in September 2011.
