The 2009–10 Liga II season is the 70th season of Liga II, the second tier of the Romanian football league system. The season started on August 15, 2009 and will end on June 5, 2010.

1Gloria Buzău were deducted 8 points after not reaching the 25 points minimum margin in the 2008–09 Liga I season.
2Cetatea Suceava were excluded from the championship during the winter break due to the team owing approximately 1 million in unpaid wages and taxes.[1][2] Their remaining matches have been scratched and will be credited as a 3–0 win for their opponents.
3FCM Bacău were excluded from the championship, starting with the 33rd round, due to financial problems.[3] Their remaining matches have been scratched and will be credited as a 3–0 win for their opponents.
(C) = Champion; (R) = Relegated; (P) = Promoted; (O) = Play-off winner; (A) = Advances to a further round.
Only applicable when the season is not finished:

2CFR Timişoara were excluded from the championship, starting with the 13th round, due to non-fulfilled payment obligations to their players and officials.[4] Their record was expunged.
3FC Drobeta-Turnu Severin withdrew from the championship during the winter break because their investors retreated from financing the club.[5] Their remaining matches have been scratched and were credited as a 3–0 win for their opponents.
4Jiul Petroşani were excluded from the championship, starting with the 21st round, due to non-fulfilled payment obligations to their players.[6][7] Their remaining matches have been scratched and were credited as a 3–0 win for their opponents.
