Overview

Stoke decided to field two teams during the 1909–10 season one in the Birmingham & District League and one in the Southern Football League Division Two Western.

The standard in the southern League was of a poor quality and Stoke won the league with no difficulty, winning all of their 10 league matches with a goal-average of 48–9. They started of with a 11–0 win over Merthyr Tydfil and ended with a 6–0 win in a 'championship decider' against Hastings & St Leonards. However promotion to the Southern League's top tier was not achieved due to the Division Two Eastern and Western merging.

The Birmingham & District League was considerably tougher as Stoke finished 7th and never threatened to challenge the leaders at the top.

Arthur Griffiths was signed back from Oldham Athletic and finished the season with 36 goals to his name. Amos Baddeley also score 24 goals one coming in a match against West Brom Reserves where he scored after just eight seconds.
