Spain: Raymundo, abbot of the Fitero Abbey (Navarra), pledges to defend the fortress of Calatrava from incoming Muslim raiders. It is the founding moment of the Order of Calatrava, the spearhead of the Iberian armies during the Reconquista.^[3]
