Željko Jovanović (born 26 November 1965) is a Croatian politician and member of the governing Social Democratic Party from Rijeka. Since December 23, 2011 he has been the Minister of Science, Education and Sports in the centre-left government of Zoran Milanović. He received his doctorate in biomedical science and his master's degree in economics on the Rijeka University in 2005.[2] He is one of the most outspoken critics of the main centre-right party in Croatia, the Croatian Democratic Union, well known for calling the head of that party a "criminal organization in a political sense".
